St. Barnabas is participating in TerraCycle(r) Brigade(r) collection programs for the third year in a row! TerraCycle’s goal is to eliminate the idea of waste by creating collection and solution programs for all kinds of typically non-recyclable waste. These programs are free, and for each unit of waste collected we will earn TerraCycle points redeemable for cash payments to our school.

For the 2014-2015 school year, we raised $110 for our school, and recycled:

  • 2,886 shampoo, personal care & beauty products
  • 1,426 Caprisun drink pouches
  • 678 Go-Go squeeze drink pouches
  • 311 dental care items
  • 242 lunch kits
  • 98 Entenmann’s Little Bites pouches
  • 70 Bear Naked Granola packages

You can help us again this year by collecting the waste listed in the attached Parent Guide below and sending it in to the school with your student. The waste will then be recycled through TerraCycle and we will earn funding for our school. Our blue collection bin has been relocated to the hallway behind the Harwood Center, by the back drop off/pick up loop.

What’s New! This year we are now collecting E-Waste. This includes cell phones, smart phones, Iphones, digital cameras, camcorders, graphing calculators, toner & inkjet cartridges, iPod devices, laptops, notebooks, netbooks, e-readers, tablets and iPad.

Thank you, and for any questions on Terracycle, you can contact me, Jennifer Coen, 407-719-0884, or jennifercoen@cfl.rr.com.We have also paired up with some corporate sponsors over the past year, and have a Terracycle collection bin at the following locations:

  • Kennedy’s All American Barber Club, Lake Mary
  • Walmart Hair Salon, Deland

If you know of a business that could help us with our collections, and may also want a collection bin, please contact me, Jennifer Coen, 407-719-0884, or at jennifercoen@cfl.rr.com.

I look forward to another great year of recycling, and supporting St Barnabas (two of my favorite things).
