Hands on science learning

Studies show that students that are given the opportunity to apply knowledge both inside and outside the classroom are more likely to learn. Our 8th Grade, under the direction of Dave Joseph, has modeled this by taking what they have learned in the classroom and applied it to real life. In this case, it is the application of biology to the world botany in the form of a garden.

In 8th Grade, students study life (Biology). They learn about plant structure and growth in class and then get to apply it in the real world. Each student has selected a specific vegetable, fruit or herb that they would like to plant. They will germinate their seeds in the lab and transfer their plants to their raised bed or trough. Take a minute to view the website they created to show different plant life they are working with.
