Private schools have long been known for molding high achievers, both in the classroom and on the athletic field. But is your child likely to be better prepared for college simply by attending a private school?
According to the data, the mean SAT scores for 2015 graduates of Florida private schools was 1649, which is 99 points above the set College and Career Readiness Benchmark of 1550. Florida public school seniors, on the other hand, had a mean SAT score of 1462, which is 88 points below the standard.
This data is alarming for Florida public schools as the below benchmark mean SAT score indicates that graduating seniors are not as prepared as they should be when heading off to college or entering the workforce.
At St. Barnabas Episcopal School, we are committed to developing the whole child, and our academic program plays a critical role in this development. We build the foundation of your child’s education, starting with our preschool program and continuing on through elementary school and middle school. The earlier you can get your children in a learning environment that inspires and stimulates them, the more successful their academic career will be in the long run.
We strongly believe that your child’s education must go beyond what’s testable, which is why we offer art, music, and PE to all of our K-8 students in addition to the standard academic curriculum. With our small classroom sizes, students can get the attention they need and be actively engaged in the lessons.
Our commitment to academics at St. Barnabas has not gone unnoticed. We are the only Episcopal school in Volusia County to be accredited by the Florida Council of Independent Schools (FCIS). We also received the esteemed honor of being named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.
To learn more about what makes us different from any other private school in Central Florida, we invite you to tour our school and find out how our preschool, elementary school, and middle school programs are yielding very prepared, well-rounded high school students.
