January 12, 2012 PAC GENERAL MEETING NOTES:
8:34a.m. Meeting called to order by Amy V./Pac President
Prayer– led by Paul Garcia
PAC Secretary-Allison A. read notes dated 11/10/2011. Amy V. asked for a motion to approve the reading of 11/10/11 notes: 1st: by Andrea S and 2nd by Jamie U.
January Referral Contest—Paul Garcia explained the incentive program. Each month there will be a drawing (from the parents that give NEW referrals to school) to win a $150 gift card to Publix! Please use the special referral forms (handed out in meeting). You may also contact Paul Garcia or Lizzie Guenther. (see flyer that was circulated). Jamie Underwood won for the contest in December and won a $150 to Target. Our Open House is Saturday, January 21st at 10am. Flyers will be mailed to perspective families for this event. An email blast is going out this week as well. Please share these forms with family,friends,businesses, Doctors/Dentist offices. Brainstorm with your family on how we can “market” our school.
Grandparents day and Christmas/Teacher Dinner–Amy V. spoke in place for Elizabeth S. and Stacia H. Both events went very well.
PAC Lunch Coordinator-Lauren Swaggerty: We NEED lunch volunteers. Please go to Signupgenius.com The Third grade class is assigned to Cafeteria duty this month. A PAC parent asked if there could/would be a seminar on “ HOW to use the “SignupGenius” site and Amy said that she would get with Natalie K. after the meeting.
Volunteer Coordinator: Natalie Kushner—says she is currently helping the front office/counter website. You may also log in your PAC hours remotely, from your home or office. A step by step instruction email will be going out. Natalie is also working with Mr. Garcia on our website.
Used Uniform Sale-Jackie Ruiz,—our last sale was “only” $307 which is lower than last years sales. We attribute this to a lower amount of donated items for cold weather. A suggestion was made to do some type of email announcing that one may drop off the clothing during CAR LINE.
Book Fair Coordinator, Andrea Scott—The event is February 13-16. The theme is the “Hawaiin Luau” We will be expanding the area outside of the Library. If you have any EXTRA LUAU /party props, we would love to borrow them for this event. WE will have a Hula Hoop contest, popcorn, and a guess the amount of candy runts in a jar. TEACHER WISH List for books— HRP’s need to email the parents so the teachers can get some extra books for the classrooms. NEED Volunteers for this event. See Andrea for sign up. Times are from 8:00am-8:30am and 2:00pm-4pm. We also need mini water bottles donated and The HRP’s can ask the parents to donate these.
Development Coordinator-Loretta F: 2012 Fun Run is on Friday, February 24th. Both Coaches Shaw and T are going over details with Loretta. The Pre.K and K. classes are doing a “special event”. We need Tricycles and/or bikes with training wheels. Parents are encouraged to attend. The official pledge sheets will be going out in the Friday folders. We will be tying this event in with the AHA and donating 10% of our donations to them. A “foot” will be displayed on that day with each participants name on it and the amount of donations he/she raised for the event. The school parking lot will be closed off that morning for the runners to use. Loretta also noted that you can go online to donate by credit card but please indicate what class/child this money should go towards. Loretta noted that each student should collect the monies ahead of time and suggested to get one lump sum vs. a per lap pledge. This donation is TAX DEDUCTABLE. Loretta’s office/staff will send out receipts after this event.
Annual Fund: Loretta stated that currently the 6th grade is in the lead for collections. Overall collections for this fund are at almost $43k. Our goal is $70k and last year we exceeded our $70k goal by $6k.
Misc. Items: Amy.V and Amy R– Spring Social will take place on Saturday, March 31st, in the Harwood Center. The theme is different this year and it is BIRTHDAY PARTY. Sarah M. will need volunteers to help. See her after meeting. WE need a Field Day LUNCH volunteer(May4th)—Tina B. said she would do it.
Our next meeting is on Feb.9th.
