Drop Off-Pickup

Carpool guidelines are in effect on the first day of school. Students are to be dropped off and dismissed by these procedures only:

  1. Parents can refer to the “Student Directories” section of the Parent Student Handbook to form carpools. Parents must also complete a form listing anyone who is authorized to pick-up your student(s). If a person is not listed on this form, they will not be permitted to pick-up your student(s) unless they have been identified in a note directly from the parents. All designated adults are mandated to show proper identification to the teacher or the school office before picking up any student(s).
  2. Drop-off begins at 8:00 A.M. unless your student(s) is/are attending Early Morning Care. Pick-up is at 2:30 P.M. for Pre-K, 2:50 P.M. for Kindergarten, 3:00 P.M. for Grade 1st through Grade 5th, and 3:15 P.M. for Grades 6th through 8th. The administration, faculty, and/or staff will escort your student(s) from your car daily. 5th Grade Safety Patrol students will assist by opening the vehicle door. They are not permitted to remove student(s) from a vehicle.
  3. Please make sure the VISOR SIGN which was issued by the school office is displayed on the visor of the passenger side of the car. This helps to identify your car and is for the safety of each student. If you need additional signs, please contact the school office. FAMILIES WITH MULTIPLE STUDENTS NEED TO FOLLOW THE TIME THAT IS PRINTED ON YOUR VISOR SIGN
  4. If your student(s) is/are going to ride with someone other than a parent or person designated on the carpool form, you must send 2 written notes: one to the teacher and one to the office.
  5. All student(s) should enter and exit cars on the curbside only. Please do not allow them to take things out or put things into the trunk of the car while in the car pool line. This could become a dangerous situation
  6. Make a right hand turn only out of the driveway at all times. Making a left hand turn will interfere with the flow of traffic.
  7. Everyone must drive through the loop to drop-off and pick-up student(s) from PreK-5th grade. Please do not park and walk into the campus to drop-off or pick-up student(s). All cars should pull all the way down to the church entrance to drop off students. This allows for less congestion and traffic problems on Clara Avenue.
  8. For pick-up in the afternoon, please enter Clara Avenue second entrance to the parking lot ONLY from the North traveling South. Follow the traffic through the second lane, and into the lane closest to the buildings where your student(s) is/are waiting with adult supervision. The adult will bring your student(s) to the car. Follow the traffic flow and only exit to the right heading South on Clara Avenue.
  9. Middle School students are picked up on the North side (Michigan Ave.) of our campus. All traffic must come from the West end of Michigan Ave. from Delaware Ave. If you have multiple student(s), (for example, a student in Middle School and another in Pre-K through 5th Grade) please pick-up your younger student first and then pick-up your student(s) in the Middle School loop. After you pick-up your younger child go West on Wisconsin Ave. and go 1 block and make a right on Delaware Ave., then go 1 block and make a right on Michigan Ave. to pick- up your Middle School student.
  10. Please exercise care and caution. Wait until all students in your carpool have entered or exited your car and the doors are securely closed before you pull forward. Watch for students walking in front of your car.
  11. If it is necessary to park and walk onto the campus, please walk across the designated cross walks only.
  12. Drive with extreme caution and very slowly.
  13. Important: Please do not use cell phones in the parking lot while dropping-off or picking-up children.
  14. Students will remain in the school buildings during electrical storms, and parents will have to come and escort their student(s) to the car.
  15. When it is raining, either in the morning or afternoon, students will be dropped off or picked up as usual in the school parking lot. They will wait under the shelters of the church office porch, the church entrance, and Canterbury steps.

Classroom Visitation/Early Pick-Up or Late Drop-Off:

There are specific, scheduled times when you are invited to see the progress of your student(s) in his/her class. Additional classroom visits can be arranged through your student(s) teacher. Anytime a parent, grandparent or guardian visits a classroom, he/she will need to sign-in at the School Office first to receive a visitor’s pass. Unless you have a specific appointment with the teacher, please do not visit in your student(s) classroom during the time before school starts, since this is when the teachers are preparing to greet all the students for the day, and to provide an appropriate setting for instruction to take place. If you are picking up or dropping off your student(s) at times other than the regular schedule, please come directly to the school office to sign your student(s) in or out. Then you may proceed to the classroom to pick up your student(s) or they will be brought to the office. The office personnel will notify the classroom that you are coming. We want to minimize interruptions in the classroom as much as possible.
